Our Mission & Story
The mission of Howard’s Hope is to reduce juvenile drownings by providing economically disadvantaged youth access to organized programs which provide aquatic safety lessons and teach water survival skills.
Howard’s Hope was founded in 2014 by Steve and Stacy Reeves after they witnessed the horrific near-drowning of their 4-year old daughter in the family’s swimming pool.
Children qualified to enroll in the Flying Fish program are matched with local aquatic facilities which offer formal swim lessons. An application and needs assessment is utilized in order to ensure that the assets of Howard’s Hope are directed to those children most in need.
